Valley Wine Grape Growers Thankful For Rain | Abc30.com

(KFSN) -- The recent wet weather is welcome news to Valley wine grape growers. The Winegrowers Association says last week's storm and the approaching one are a great start for a hopefully normal season. Since grapes are dormant this time of year, rain won't do any damage and will only create better conditions in the spring.

Hosting a holiday party? There's an app for that - The Grand Island Independent: Food

10 Things Holiday Snacks: Cracker Bark If youre looking for a gift of wine, it can be a bit intimidating, especially if youre not sure about someones taste in wine. Your safest way to go in that case is with a Pinot Noir, said Asmaro. Its a lighter red. When you know someones favorite wine, gift giving becomes much easier. You can always buy them a bottle of their favorite, or you can take thoughtfulness a step further. Contact the wine producer to find out their recommendation in their special release selections or get advice on an upgrade in the same or similar palate spectrum as their favorite wine. But the Oregon native was determined to make his mark when he came to the Seattle area in 1980, and he has accomplished greatness in the decades since. Carter was the head wine maker for Paul Thomas Wines and Washington Hills/Apex Cellars before launching his own brand in the late 1990s and establishing his winery in Woodinville in 2002 with business partner Michael Stevens. When Carter opened his tasting room, not far from Ste. Michelle, he was one of the only wineries there. Today, Woodinville has more than 100 tasting rooms. Carters focus is on blends, and today he crafts no fewer than 10 different wines.

Finding fine wine - Tri-County Times: Human Interests, Social News, Recipes

When we'd just about decided to turn around, we came into a clearing at the top of a hill. It was a beautiful home, and the man was so happy we'd changed our minds. We spent the better part of the afternoon listening to his stories (his vineyards supplied grapes for one of the big wineries) over some of the best wine (self-bottled), and locally made cheese and bread, all the while enjoying a breathtaking view of the valley.
